The Stone Age
Our first History topic of Year 3 is, 'The Stone Age' where we will be exploring what life was like for people living in the Stone Age period and how that differs from today.
We will also have the chance to get hands on with history by exploring different artefacts and discovering what they might have been used for.
As part of our Stone Age topic, we will have the privilege of welcoming the Ancient Technology Centre who will spend the day immersing us in history. They will transform a classroom into a stone age camp where children experience different stone age jobs such as making pigments, making nettle rope and turning wheat into flour. The children will handle stone age artefacts and explore their uses. Finally, in the hall the children will practise hand spinning wool into bracelets before weaving wool using a loom.
This amazing opportunity allows the children to deepen their understanding of the stone age and the lives of those living during this period.
