Wellbeing evening
Last night we held our first 'Wellbeing evening' this was designed to support parents in the increasingly pressurised world in which we live. The turnout of parents was fantastic and just summed up the volume of concerns that parents have with the increased levels of anxiety and the use of technology that children seem to be facing.
The evening was attended by over 100 parents and the speakers included key members of staff linked to technology and wellbeing within the school and also outside speakers including our PCSO Alex Baldwin and also the Deputy Headteacher from Ringwood Secondary Claire Adams.
The evening had a variety of issues covered looking at the National climate, how adults can support children with anxiety or behavioural concerns, the importance of understanding the dangers online friend requests and what the children can access, the data of children at Poulner and concerns linked to this and finally the importance of being one step ahead and putting in place parental measures and house rules before the issues esculate to a serious nature and consequence.
I think a real strength of the evening was giving parents the time to talk together, share ideas and support each other in doing a great, and tough job of being a parent!
